Tick season is upon us!

It's summertime in Idaho so, unfortunately, it's also tick season.

The pesky little bugs can hitch a ride on you or your pets.

The Idaho Humane Society says it's seeing more dogs coming in with ticks. They then can jump off a dog and onto you or make your pet sick.

"If you notice that your dog has had a tick on him or her and then starts to act lethargic, seems like they're sore in multiple joints, I would definitely take them to the vet and think about testing them for tick diseases," said Dr. Adrian Dannis, lead shelter veterinarian.

If you find a tick on your dog, remove the whole thing, including the tick's head. Once you get it out, dispose of it by putting it in rubbing alcohol or by flushing it down the toilet.
